Creative Business Planning – Development Goals for 2022

In the third and final part of my creative business planning blog series, I’m covering the development goals I’ve put in place for 2022.

It’s a bit of a shorter post, I’ll be honest, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less important than the other two.

Whilst this does relate to my business (in a sense), these are mostly personal development goals that I want to achieve over the next 3 – 6 months.

Personal Development Goal

High Level – Read at least 15 fiction or non-fiction books by the end of September

Macro steps and why

Be more strategic

  1. Be strategic about the non-fiction books. It’s all well and good reading, but I need to also learn from what I’ve read, rather than just reading because it’s a book that’s been recommended
  2. Assess what areas of my professional and personal growth that I can improve on, and read non-fiction books in those areas. For example, books by Joanna Penn and Sacha Black, as their businesses are multi-streamed and something I want to emulate
  3. Set aside time each evening to read, perhaps rather than watching iPlayer in the bath, I go back to reading, like I used to
  4. The Why? Because the only way I know how to grow is by consuming the written word and other forms of creative media. Films, TV series, podcasts and Youtube videos, it all helps. Learning is eternal, and so is the mission of personal development

Monitoring

Not much to say on this

  1. Keep the running tally so I can see what I have achieved by the end of 2022

Remember

  1. Reading is for learning but also for enjoyment. If there’s a genre I want to read, then I have permission to go for it. I don’t have to invest time in something that I don’t enjoy. Life is too short and reading is fun

In summary

Yes, like I said, these goals are mostly personal development, but that’s another key aspect of my business. The assets I create aren’t the only things my future relies on, it’s my mental and physical wellbeing too. So read, consume, create and refill that creative well.

So, what do you think? How do you want to grow this year? Is there anything you want to work on? Or is there something you’ve missed over the last 12 months or so that you want to get back into again> Let me know in the comments below, or reach out to me on Instagram.

Speak to you soon!
